The horse is particularly well-suited for use in animal-assisted programs due to its physical attributes and species-specific behaviors. It willingly carries humans on its back, moves them, and encourages them to be active, while also offering contact and a high willingness to cooperate. However, the diverse benefits that come with using a horse can only be realized if the horse has been prepared for its tasks and if its physical and mental health is not overlooked. In this book, we have compiled our knowledge and experience on the optimal way to work with horses. With this, we aim to contribute to making a high professional standard in the training of horses more commonplace.
