The unsuccessful writer Franziska Grosshirsch unexpectedly wins a prestigious literary award with her text 'The Rope.' However, others also lay claim to the prize money. Leading the charge is Aunt Hilde, with whom she spent a far from sheltered childhood alongside her cousin Martin, followed by her ex-boyfriend, and finally her literary agent. Franziska has no choice but to barricade herself in her apartment until the day of the award ceremony, as the winning text did not originate from her pen. Her phone lies switched off in the freezer, and the windows and doors are secured with tape, but Franziska can no longer fend off the ghosts of her past. They emerge from her soul and invade the apartment, piece by piece stepping into the spotlight to finally be seen and to ask the all-important question: Who actually wrote 'The Rope'?.
