In 2008, the already established simplified youth procedure, now codified in sections 76 ff. of the Youth Court Act (JGG), was revitalized with the introduction of the Neukölln Model, a particularly expedited form of proceedings. The procedure was named after the Berlin district of Neukölln, where it began as a pilot project on January 1, 2008. The model was based on a collaborative agreement among individual youth judges, representatives of the youth public prosecutor's office, youth court assistance, and investigative officers in Berlin. Inès Ben Miled examines the simplified youth procedure and the particularly expedited procedure according to the Neukölln Model, attempting to highlight both the similarities and differences between the two forms of proceedings.
