Until a few decades ago, it was not uncommon for children from large families to be given to childless couples, ensuring their old-age security and providing a successor for the farm or vineyard. Andreas Mohr was one such "gifted child." He has written down his experiences and feelings today. One can clearly sense that he reflects thoughtfully on his fate and is glad that such things no longer happen to children in the Eifel today. At 76 years old, Mr. Andreas Mohr from Gillenfeld is still full of energy and has a positive outlook on life. Nevertheless, he constantly thinks back to his childhood, which was so completely different from that of children of his generation in other families: his parents gave him to a childless family. He spent his entire life there and later took care of his needy uncles and aunts.
