Dr. Josef Stangl presents his next work on the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland, following his book on the 1910 Chess World Championship. In it, he vividly describes how the German national football team, which started as a nobody, fought its way to the final in Bern and ultimately defeated the unbeaten Hungarian team, which had gone four years without a loss, coming back from a 0-2 deficit to win 3-2. This marked the first time the Federal Republic of Germany became the football world champion.
