At first, David and Dean are at odds with each other. Then the teenagers fall in love and become lifelong friends. They manage to overcome the resistance that David's parents have against their gay relationship. However, the two young men are very different in their personalities. David is bisexual and has a good girlfriend with whom he is sexually active. Dean is exclusively attracted to men. David loves order, while Dean is more carefree. Dean studies geography, and David is training to be a primary school teacher. They move in together, but they painfully realize that they are not compatible as roommates. They separate physically but want to remain friends. For a while, this works well. David finds a new roommate and a second friend in his colleague Cem. Living together now goes perfectly. Although Dean wants to endure it, it makes him unhappy.
