This brochure is primarily aimed at German companies that find it difficult to apply the European and national legal frameworks for safe machinery. This mainly concerns small and medium-sized manufacturers, machine users who act like manufacturers because they connect machines at their own responsibility, modify and significantly change machines and production systems, or manufacture machines for their own use, as well as purchasers of machinery. The application of the European and national legal frameworks for safe machinery, which have been in effect since early 1993 in the European Economic Area (EEA), is practically associated with significant challenges. Many machine manufacturers and users are overwhelmed by the multitude of regulations that require interpretation and their amendments. Even designers are affected today.
