With this book, the author has succeeded for the first time in presenting a comprehensive study on the treatment of the Anthroposophical Society and its institutions by the National Socialists. His account illustrates the conflicts that must have arisen when the totalitarian ideology and organization of National Socialism collided with Anthroposophy. The spectrum ranges from the banning of Rudolf Steiner's writings to the closure of Waldorf schools and the mass arrest of pastors from the anthroposophical "Christian Community," which Werner opens up to the reader. By uncovering new sources in the archives of the former GDR, he was also able to close an important research gap.
