Since its founding in the 1970s, the series "Germanistische Linguistik" (RGL) has been a prominent forum for the field it represents in its title. It is open in terms of thematic breadth (language levels, varieties, forms of communication, epochs), research perspectives (theory and empiricism, fundamental research and application, inter- and transdisciplinarity), and methodological spectrum. The series accommodates both the incorporation of new trends and the continuation of established practices. The publication formats range from monographs and edited volumes to dictionaries.
