A bridging course must be able to achieve several things: it compactly reviews the material from secondary and upper secondary education, as first-year students often have smaller or larger gaps and uncertainties in their knowledge. Additionally, it appropriately introduces relevant advanced mathematical concepts from the lectures. Consequently, it helps spare students the shock that many experience when applying mathematics as an essential tool in a business or natural sciences degree. This makes the significant transition from school to university a bit smaller.
