The basis of the critical edition of Schleiermacher's main work, the "Glaubenslehre," is the original print of the second edition from 1830/31, which was compared for the first time with Schleiermacher's handwritten manuscript rediscovered in 1980. This critical edition, with over 1000 sometimes significant improvements compared to the Redeker edition, will be the only authoritative version in the future. It is now made accessible to the interested academic audience and especially to students in a handy, single-volume paperback edition, accompanied by a new preface by Rolf Schäfer.
