Product details

In economic history, historical studies on market-related topics such as sales and pricing policies are largely underrepresented. This gap is to be addressed using the example of the Meissen porcelain manufactory in the 18th century. The Meissen manufactory, established in 1710, is considered the most famous and oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe, and its artistically high-quality porcelain is regarded as the epitome of the Baroque and Rococo periods. The author demonstrates that marketing topics such as pricing policy and strategy are not phenomena of the modern industrial age, but have significantly occupied decision-makers in the manufactory sector since the early 18th century. The study examines the prevailing pricing and distribution strategies as well as the operational influence of the Saxon ruling authority under the "porcelain lover" Augustus the Strong, based on historical documents.
