There is no relief in sight on either the supply or demand side of the market. Additional capacities continue to be built, at a time when demand behavior, particularly in the form of increased sensitivity to price-performance ratios, already poses a burden on occupancy rates and room prices. In addition to the problematic relationship between supply and demand and the high expectations for hotel services, the hospitality industry is also shaped by consolidation processes.
