It includes more than 150 documents as well as the minutes of 169 sessions of the London General Council of the International Workingmen's Association, providing insight into Marx's and Engels' active participation in the discussions of European workers' and trade union leaders. Chronologically, the volume begins with Engels' and Marx's efforts to promote the recently published first volume of "Capital" by launching discussions in journals and newspapers.
