Photonics - A Clear Introduction

This book presents the topics of light generation and measurement, as well as ray and wave optics, in a compact and understandable manner. The work is kept very elementary: it prioritizes a clear, detailed, and mathematically complete derivation of fundamental formulas over thematic completeness in specialized areas. Many exercises with detailed solutions and comprehension questions emphasize the textbook character of the title. A glossary of technical terms (German-English/English-German) completes the book. It is aimed at students of physics and engineering sciences from the 4th semester onwards.
