The new edition of "Die Klage" offers a comprehensive and critical analysis of the work by Hartmann von Aue, dated around 1180. This edition is particularly valuable for Hartmann research, as previous critical editions have been out of print for over four decades. The critical text is based on the only surviving manuscript, the 'Ambraser Heldenbuch', which was created between 1504 and 1516. The introduction includes a detailed description of the manuscript as well as an overview of earlier editions and editorial efforts. The principles of the edition are clearly presented, and two apparatuses are provided: a variant readings apparatus that documents deviations from the Ambraser manuscript, and an explanatory apparatus that focuses on syntactic structures. These elements allow students to gain a deeper insight into the characteristics of Middle High German. A comprehensive bibliography on "Die Klage" completes the edition.
