The fourth edition of Andrea Giovannini's foundational work includes about one-fifth new content. It is aimed not only at conservators and restorers but also at all staff in preservation institutions who wish to handle cultural assets with care. The author has incorporated the latest findings across the entire breadth of his subject area. Notably, he has significantly expanded the chapter on preventive and supportive measures in emergency and disaster situations. The previous three editions were published by Les éditions ies in Geneva and are sold out. They will be largely replaced by this new edition.
