Product details
The House of Tellier, published in 1881, is arguably the most famous novella by Guy de Maupassant, in which the moral concepts of the era are turned completely upside down. The staff of Madam Tellier's brothel takes a trip to the countryside to celebrate a first communion. While the male clientele grows increasingly impatient waiting in front of the closed doors of the brothel, the enthusiastic rural population celebrates the piety and respectability of the prostitutes. The volume includes all nine novellas from the first edition, including the story of a maid and A Country Outing.
