I thought I could handle aging easily. That was a mistake. You don't suddenly become old; it happens gradually. At first, you don't notice anything. Then suddenly, you need glasses. And shortly after that, you find yourself explaining to others how the world works, even though you have no clue yourself. I was sure I had it under control: experience, perspective, calmness. That lasted exactly until the first problem arose. Then it all started: technology doing whatever it wants; doctor visits that leave you knowing more but understanding nothing; conversations where no one listens; daily life suddenly becoming more complicated than before; and solutions that surprisingly often backfire. And every time, you think: Get it together. I do. It just doesn't help. I'll handle it myself. As always. And that's exactly where the problem begins. Grandpa will handle it. And wonders why it doesn't work.
