Deburring is an important subprocess in the manufacturing chain, where unwanted material burrs are removed from the workpiece. While many main manufacturing processes, such as mold making in forming or cutting processes, have achieved a high degree of automation, this has not yet been the case for deburring. The practical book on deburring technology helps to close this technological gap. The authors have more than 20 years of experience in this field and provide the necessary knowledge to solve deburring problems as efficiently as possible. First, the fundamentals of burr formation are addressed and burr characteristics are defined. Building on this, recommendations for burr-friendly design are given for designers and manufacturing planners. The user is enabled to positively influence burr formation through targeted material selection.
