The student Saki finds herself transported into the world of the novel Hoshin Engi from ancient China through a mysterious scroll. There, she meets the main character Shiga, who, as Taikobo, is supposed to establish a new dynasty and elevate all involved to the status of gods. However, Shiga does not behave like a hero at all: every little task seems too much for him, and he wants nothing to do with it all. While Saki desperately wants to return home, the more she experiences, the harder it becomes for her to ignore what the elevation of the gods truly means...
