Jeans things are items made from denim or covered with denim fabric, consisting of materials that imitate denim, or whose surfaces are printed with images of denim. They are objects of varying function, significance, and origin. Some simply bear the word "jeans" or "denim" like a proper name, thus identifying themselves as denim objects. Oscillating between fetish, design, and mutation, each item tells its own story of function and dysfunction, of origin and production methods, of timelessness or temporal categorization within specific trends. Hardly any other material shell offers as much projection space as denim, and it is so eloquent and universal. The authors, coming from diverse backgrounds in thought and writing, have each selected an object, examined it, and questioned it.
