Depressive syndromes are among the most common mental disorders after the age of 60. They are still too rarely recognized, diagnosed, and treated accordingly. Many renowned authors describe the current state of knowledge about these disorders regarding etiology, classification, diagnostics, psychopharmacotherapy, and other biologically oriented methods, as well as psychotherapy/social therapy, prevention, and rehabilitation.
