We know who we are. What we are. Why we do what we do. We have the impression of walking through life upright and self-determined. But that is only half the truth. After going through stage after stage of evolution and developing into an upright being, something unexpected suddenly reveals itself: we are bending down again.

But how did this happen? Surely someone must have noticed. Is our inner turmoil to blame, constantly fluctuating between feelings of inferiority and arrogance? Are the few puppet masters of our society twisting us for their own purposes? What is it that makes us the upright yet bent individuals we are today?
