Christian Lehnert's formally strict poems are fragile constructs that create precisely the silence in which they can have an effect. It is no coincidence that many of the texts, whose themes and modes of expression span a wide arc from antiquity to the present, from Christian Western to Jewish-Arab cultures, repeatedly return to questions.
