Who doesn't know the three main administrative principles: We've always done it this way, we've never done it this way, and where would we end up if we did it that way? Such statements are often associated with our civil servants, whose decisions are in many cases indeed very difficult to understand or even comprehend. It is often overlooked that officials are obliged to enforce laws—no matter how pointless or absurd they may be. This can lead to some rather curious occurrences.
