Product details

The aim of this book is to raise awareness of the topic "Men as Victims" of domestic violence and ultimately contribute to its de-tabooing. The widespread cliché of "man as perpetrator" and "woman as victim" is to be scientifically dismantled. As an introduction, the causes and consequences of domestic violence are explained, which often lead affected men to experience a "double victim role": they are victims of the violence they endure and victims of the prevailing societal roles and expectations. The extent of domestic violence against men is explored based on the current state of research and statistics from counseling centers. Furthermore, the author discusses whether it is even possible to speak of "the perpetrator" and "the victim" in cases of violence within a partnership, alongside legal protective measures.
