Product details

Nasreddin Hodja is the name of the most prominent protagonist of humorous prose stories throughout the Turkish-Islamic influenced region, from the Balkans to the Turkic peoples of Central Asia. He is believed to have lived in southwestern Anatolia in the 13th or 14th century. From Italy to India, he is known in all regions shaped by Islam and Christianity, and local events are often attributed to him. The author and narrative researcher Albert Wesselski (1871-1939) presents Turkish, Arabic, Berber, Maltese, Sicilian, Calabrian, Croatian, Serbian, and Greek tales and anecdotes in this volume from 1911. This is a reprint of the original edition, Volume 1, from 1911.
