Product details
With the spread of Christian teaching, resistance soon began to form against it, directed not only massively against its followers but also against its Holy Scripture, the Bible. With the emergence of "biblical-critical science" and its "historical-critical method," particularly at the theological faculties of German universities towards the end of the 18th century, anti-biblical efforts in Western Europe gained new momentum. The "insights" of this "biblical-critical science" have long since become the official teaching of at least the Protestant churches. In the "wake" of their "scientific" publications, various articles, books, and broadcasts by self-proclaimed experts continue to circulate, using this fact to promote their hostility towards all religiosity, believing Christians, and the Bible among humanity. One of the most vile and demagogic writings of this kind was published in England in 1850 under the completely misleading title "Phases of Faith, Reports from the History of My Confession" by Francis W. Newman. In reality, this book serves more as a guide on how to gradually instill doubt in believing Christians regarding their faith. As the book began to have a harmful effect among believers, John Nelson Darby, a highly educated Anglo-Irish theologian who left behind a significant and extensive theological literary work, decided to take a closer look at Newman’s book and to expose and denounce the true character of this work with all its false claims and subtle manipulations. The detailed result is presented here for the first time translated into German for the readership.
