In a time when globalization and consumer capitalism are on the brink of failure, an alternative vision of progress emerges: the bioutopia. In this vision, humans relate to themselves as biological design objects. The techno-scientific transformations of biological substance, the beginnings of which we are witnessing today, open up unprecedented possibilities for gradually detaching from the conditions of biological evolution. Thus, "the next human" embodies the history of body, technology, and media, increasingly turning away from the hopes of previous ecological thinking. In post-ecological bioperfection, a new epoch takes on sharp contours.
