Krüger, a chief inspector from Bonn, originally intended to spend his vacation in Provence. However, he and his girlfriend unexpectedly find themselves embroiled in a murder case in the quaint town of Malaucène at the foot of Mont Ventoux. The case involves two feuding brothers, a wine merchant from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and shady real estate sharks who want to build a hotel complex on the left bank of the Rhône with an unobstructed view of the Pope's Palace in Avignon. One of the brothers wants to sell the necessary land, while the other does not. And then there’s the tanker truck with a mysterious cargo. Will Krüger, along with the multilingual investigating judge Bertrand Bonnefoy, be able to find the culprit amidst the fog of Avignon?.
