This work is dedicated to the presentation of a typical horse boarding contract under Austrian and German law. The horse boarding contract is an agreement between the stable operator and the boarder, who places their horse in the stable of the contracting party. Initially, the question of the type of contract is addressed, as there is no specific legal regulation for the horse boarding contract. Classifying it into a contract type is important in order to delve deeper into further contractual contents. Subsequently, the rights and obligations arising from the boarding contract for the boarder and the stable operator are discussed. A focal point of the work is liability, specifically liability for damages that occur to the horse and its equipment, as well as liability for damages caused by the horse.
