After an overview of the history of local studies, a systematic analysis of the concepts of subject teaching follows. This book initially explains the approaches to subject teaching that characterized its beginnings in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It then progresses to current concepts of subject teaching that define the present state of discussion. With this background knowledge, the present volume enables readers to assess and evaluate developments in subject teaching from multiple perspectives. Tables, data sheets, and diagrams provide summarizing overviews of the respective historical, conceptual, and current forms of subject teaching.
