Hauke Haien is a man of progress and builds a modern dike. However, the ambitious project stirs the superstitions of the villagers, who sense misfortune behind the innovative dam. Soon, they see Hauke and his white horse as a ghostly rider, the embodiment of the demonic, who will bring disaster to the village.
