Der Schnee fällt nicht hinauf
German, Robert Walser, 2009Product details
Robert Walser is considered the most important Swiss writer of the first half of the 20th century. In contrast, the poet Walser remains almost unknown. Urs Allemann demonstrates in this volume, featuring 33 Walser poems, that this has more to do with the limited poetic horizon of his critics than with the poet's own artistic ability: These mostly late verses, created in the 1920s, break away from conventions and present poetry as a form of crash and anti-art. Experimenting with tones, Walser crafts radically disillusioned, bizarrely comedic self-portraits of the poet - as a crash pilot, as a "self-satisfied louse," as a "ruin with a mischievous grin.".
