A catalog of all the publications of a publishing house serves as a performance record of its work and is also an expression of gratitude towards the founder and the generations of publishers that followed. It is simultaneously the most objective documentation of the history of the publishing house, as it registers the production since the founding year by individual titles. The proposal to comprehensively document the publications of Springer Publishing since its inception in a catalog dates back to 1978. Initially, the idea met with skepticism, as Julius Springer had published numerous brochures in the early years of his activity that were intended only for the day. Many of them are already missing from the oldest surviving publisher catalogs from the 1880s. Some were not even listed in the Leipzig fair catalogs. In individual cases, this may be the case.
