Hoffmann, Heinrich, born on June 13, 1809, in Frankfurt am Main, died on September 20, 1894, in Frankfurt am Main. The son of an architect and municipal building inspector studied medicine in Heidelberg and Halle. After earning his doctorate in 1833 and completing further training in Paris, he opened a practice in Frankfurt am Main in 1835 and became a coroner in Sachsenhausen. From 1844 to 1851, he served as a lecturer in anatomy at the Senckenberg Institute. During this time, he participated in a clinic for the poor and was involved in the founding of a medical association. In 1848, he served as a civic liberal in the Frankfurt Pre-Parliament. From 1851 to 1888, he worked as the chief physician at the institution for the insane and epileptics, earning significant merits in the development of child psychiatry.
