Japan in the late 18th century. The country has almost completely isolated itself from the rest of the world. A Japanese trading ship gets caught in a storm and, after months of wandering, washes up on an Aleutian island. With Russian fur traders, the shipwrecked crew makes their way to Siberia, hoping to return home from there. But on the contrary: a new odyssey begins...
