Product details
Report about my father In April 1947 a dead man is discovered in a bunker on the Austrian-Italian border. The corpse shows two shots in the head and one shot in the chest. The identity card found on the dead man turns out to be fake. Investigations based on a tattoo on the upper left arm and facial bruising reveal the true identity of the dead man: He is Dr. Gerhard Bast, born 1911, SS-Sturmbannführer, member of the Gestapo, wanted for war crimes. Over half a century later Martin Pollack travels to South Tyrol to investigate the circumstances of this death. His report traces with tremendous intensity a human being, a life that was determined by violence and ended by violence. Martin Pollack hardly knew this person, but he was closer to him than anyone else - it was his own.
