An ancient, paralyzed, almost deaf private scholar, philosopher, and tyrant at home is to be awarded an honorary doctorate for his barely comprehensible treatise on improving the world. He waits at home for the award ceremony alongside his partner, his "necessary evil." Some time passes before the dignitaries arrive, during which not only the comically exaggerated old age grievances, the relentless irony of a word artist, and the disturbing caricature of a marriage can be experienced, but also the contradictions and vulnerabilities of a peculiar individual whose treatise aims for the total abolition of the world and who is honored by this crazy world but not truly understood.
