Two writers, one story: Christoph Ransmayr and Martin Pollack use three stories from Poland to demonstrate a special form of storytelling: the duet. A hunter who accuses his god of having created the wolf; an executed hero and saint who proves to be an innocent fool; and a descendant who is supposed to overcome the apocalyptic history of his people. Against the background of Polish contemporary history, Christoph Ransmayr and Martin Pollack together tell of the drama of man. With this duet, the latest of his play forms of narration, which has been published by S. Fischer in loose succession and elegant settings since 1997, Christoph Ransmayr puts two-part harmony in a series in which he has already presented picture story, ceremonial speech, acting, monologue, interrogation, and tirade as possibilities of narration.
