The tithe was mandated in the Old Testament by the Law of Moses as a required contribution. Whether the tithe still plays a role for followers of Jesus is a topic of much discussion and speculation today. To provide clarity on this matter, the author has taken the effort to thoroughly and competently examine all relevant passages from both the Old and New Testaments, considering the biblical and historical context. The results are highly interesting, but they clearly undermine many common interpretations and practices. Moreover, if the Bible is not interpreted correctly here, it leads to a complete distortion of the Gospel. The consequence is confused believers trapped in legalism, who often suffer from shame and guilt because they cannot meet the demands of the tithe doctrine. In contrast, there is the offer of Jesus.
