Product details
The TWA Terminal at New York's JFK Airport is an icon of the 1960s. Flying was the future, flying was exciting and glamorous. This is what Finnish architect Eero Saarinen (1910-1961) aimed to express with the exclusive building for Trans World Airlines (TWA). To this day, the unique design captivates every viewer. Although it is one of the most famous structures in New York, there has yet to be a monograph on the TWA Terminal, as well as a critical architectural history. Despite being marketed as an icon of the jet age, it soon became clear that the TWA Flight Center could not meet the demands and that the rapidly growing passenger flows could not be managed within it. Since 2001, the listed building has been closed and awaits a new purpose. Short, well-researched texts, along with around 150 highly attractive images and plans, make the book appealing to architecture and design enthusiasts.
