Product details

Following Jacques Lacan, Roman Lesmeister undertakes a revision of central concepts in contemporary psychoanalysis. The main points of his theoretical critique are the neglect of the desire of analysts in the psychoanalytic concept of countertransference and the disappearance of a concept of guilt in psychoanalytic psychotraumatology. In addition to the theoretical discussion, the book offers a critical examination of two psychoanalytic practice concepts: it demonstrates why the psychoanalytic concepts of change and new beginnings need to be made more transparent regarding their unconscious-phantasmatic background than has been done so far. Furthermore, the ethical constitution of the analytical situation and relationship is discussed. As a contribution to the self-reflection of psychoanalysis, this book aims to serve psychotherapists.
