The topic of facades has gained increasing importance in architectural practice and public perception in recent years. In addition to serving as a protective shell and a display side, as well as a provider of heat and electricity, the exterior of buildings interacts directly with the surrounding public space. The Facade Atlas, in its new edition, provides a compact reference work that conveys technical and design planning fundamentals. It specifically offers information on completed examples down to the constructive details. The characteristics of the building materials are highlighted in their unique application potential and specific conditions. Functionally determined and cross-material, chapters cover multi-layered building envelopes, "manipulators" for changing effects at facade openings, and the utilization of environmental energy. Additionally, current topics are addressed.
