Helmut Qualtinger, born on October 8, 1928, in Vienna, died on September 29, 1986, in Vienna, was an actor, cabaret artist, journalist, and writer. He began his career in the legendary Viennese cellar theaters of the post-war years and, along with Gerhard Bronner, Carl Merz, and Michael Kehlmann, ushered in the golden 1950s of Viennese cabaret. In 1961, he created a satirical monument to the Austrian petty bourgeoisie with his work "Herrn Karl." The collected works consist of 5 volumes.
