This reading book for the 3rd and 4th grade is primarily aimed at children with a migration background, but also at all others who are interested in intercultural and global learning. Children whose first language is not German often still struggle in the 3rd and 4th grades to understand German texts written for native speakers, both in terms of content and language, as they may have a good grasp of everyday language but not of academic language to a sufficient degree. This requires knowledge in both the lexical and grammatical and syntactical areas that children learning German as a second language may not yet possess. This book addresses this issue: it aims to introduce children to a variety of topics without overwhelming them linguistically and to gradually and incrementally lead them towards academic language.
