Product details

Howitzers were developed to hit targets that are not directly in the line of sight. To achieve this and to be able to fire over obstacles, they had to be fired at a steep angle. Among the most famous and heaviest howitzers in Germany were the "Dicke Berta" and the "Mörser Karl." They were primarily used against enemy fortifications as concrete busters. In this volume, Gerhard Taube narrates the development of this type of artillery. He provides a detailed account of the design and production history of these heavy giants, as well as their use in both World Wars.
