In addition to the central stained glass windows of St. Sebald's parish church and the Frauenkirche, the preserved and transmitted stained glass from former monasteries of the Augustinians, Benedictines, and Dominicans, the Holy Spirit Hospital, the Landau All Saints Chapel, as well as public and private secular buildings are addressed, totaling over 600 panes at nine locations. The outstanding significance of Nuremberg's stained glass from the late Middle Ages is based on an unprecedented number of established masters who were not solely occupied with the colored glazing of the imperial city churches and exported their windows beyond Franconia to Thuringia, Swabia, and Old Bavaria. Within this tradition, the east choir glazing of St. Sebald, created around 1379, is presented for the first time in its entirety as the seed of a far-reaching development.
