Through the comprehensive pioneering work of describing the architectural monuments of Poland by historical regions, German readers are introduced to the cultural and artistic treasures of the little-known neighboring country, as well as to the shared cultural heritage. For the first time, in the context of the sometimes challenging history of German-Polish relations, approximately 2,500 significant objects are presented with key construction dates and information about their furnishings and the artists involved, taking into account their historical functions: in the metropolis of Wrocław, in residence cities such as Głogów, Legnica, or Cieszyn, in regional centers like Jelenia Góra or Kłodzko, in smaller rural towns, and finally in the younger industrial regions around Wałbrzych and Katowice. This includes significant monastery and pilgrimage sites like Krzeszów, Henryków, or Annaberg, as well as a multitude of castles and manors.
